As you may have discovered on the "History & Vision" page (in the menu, right) the Gwa'sala and 'Nakwaxda'xw people originally lived in Smith Inlet and Seymour Inlet, respectively (as well as surrounding inlets, harbours and islands). These places are on the mainland of British Columbia. The map on the bottom shows the extent of our combined home lands.
In 1964 we were relocated to the Tsulquate Reserve, at the northern end of Vancouver Island, near the town of Port Hardy. The top map shows you our reserve. You can see how tiny it is (0.59 sq. km) compared to the vastness of our traditional territories.
